Bulk Wood PelletsDepending on the size of your pellet burner, purchasing bulk wood pellets may make more financial sense than purchasing wood pellets in small volume and in bags. The most common scenario where purchasing bulk wood pellets make sense is where the consumer has a large external hopper. Here a loose bulk wood pellets delivery can either be by dumpy bag or blown into the silo via a wood pellet tanker. Wood Pellets Fuel and Premium Pellets Every pellet customers has to decide what grade of pellet fuel they wish to use. Residential customers currently focus predominantly on premium grade wood pellets. However large scale pellet consumers are more flexible in their choice of pellet fuel, due the differences in costing large volumes of pellets. Here are lower grade wood pellet may still operate in an acceptable manor in the pellet burner. Here is where bulk deliveries of wood pellets is more common. Wood Pellets Suppliers and Fuel Delivery Though wood pellets suppliers provide more premium grade fuel than any other, when it comes to bulk deliveries, the orientation is more towards standard grade wood pellet fuel. Compared to premium grade fuel, standard grade wood pellets generally produce an ash content around 3%, compared to the premium 0.5%. Consumers who purchase bulk delivers generally have large scale pellet boilers which can tolerate a higher ash content pellet. Due the volumes of pellets used, purchasing in bulk standard over premium grade can save the consumer a substantial some of money each heating season. Once the grade of fuel has been chosen, the choice now comes in where to source the pellets from. As with most purchases today, many wood pellet customers will check the internet for prices and suppliers. While the internet can provide some of the best deals, do not always presume that the best deal can be found on the internet. As well as price, a consumer should focus of several other factors. Firstly many online pellet suppliers show prices, not including delivery, and depending on their location, the cost the delver the pellets may make the total cost not competitive. Also another important factor to consider is how stable is the supply of pellets. Searching online, the location of the wood pellets supplier is not clear, can you trust them to get you the pellets on time, every time? Finally it comes down to a question of what quality of fuel you think you are buying and what you actually receive. Some pellet suppliers who advertise on the internet and who are based in third world countries claim the pellets meet all industry standards. However in many cases the pellets have not been tested. Therefore a test purchase is always sensible before placing a large bulk pellet order. Wood Pellets Production and Pellet Mills The production of wood pellets requires equipment specifically designed to compress wood into pellet from. For example there is a large second hand market of animal feed pellet mills. However these pellet mills in most cases are not suitable for wood pellet production due to problems with incorrect gearing. |
