Creating More Jobs With Local Pellet Press OperationsThe current economic crisis is making it more clear than ever that more jobs need to be created on a local level. The advantage about job creation in the fuel and energy market is that they are some of the most stable jobs we have. What fuel pellet production offers is the ability to create jobs in fuel generation on a local scale that was not really possible before. Previously all fuel and energy employment was focused at the point of fuel collection, mines, gas and oil sites and electrical plants. The utilization of biomass is a very different model, with local resources been used to produce local fuels. For some this may seem like a step backwards by using such forms of energy. However by upgrading these resources into high density fuel pellets the comparisons are not justified. For instance with the next few years we will see the development of the torrefied fuel pellet entering the market. This is a fuel that is much more like a man made coal. However unlike coal it will not contribute to climate change, as it is still made from biomass materials. Also unlike coal it always has a low moisture content, and therefore does not generate any smoke or smell. This again is a fuel which can easily be produced on a local scale. The actually process of torrefaction is the same as roasting coffee beans, a process that is carried out in many small rural communities. Local fuel generation and utilization creates many benefits for the area, not just increased employment. It will help to reduce issues with waste, and potentially turn some local wastes into valuable assets. It will also generate additional income for other non-related businesses that will benefit from the increased spending power in the area.
