Hardwood PelletsThere are various different grades of wood pellet fuel, ranging from premium quality pellets which produce less than 1% ash, to lower quality but cheaper pellets. Premium wood pellets are produced from both hardwood and softwood residues, and there are disagreements on which pellets produce the best fuel pellets. Hardwood pellet fuel is produced from waste wood residue produced from timber processing, for example from oak. To produce a premium hardwood pellet the residue must be free from bark, so the pellets produce a ash percentage below 1%. Hardwood Pellets vs Softwood Pellets? Many people believe hardwood pellets will burn better producing more heat and less ash than softwood pellets, due their experience of burning hardwood logs. Actually, softwood pellets burn more efficiently than hardwood pellets, producing more BTU's and less ash. However hardwood pellets are seeing a growing market with pellet grills. There are many different types of BBQ pellet that can give the food various flavours. At PelHeat we produce many different types of pellet fuel with our pellet equipment, and then test these pellets in our pellet boiler. Watch the video below of our pellet boiler burning a wide selection of pellets.
The price of wood pellets does change on the time of year, available supply, market demand and grade of fuel. Hardwood premium wood pellet fuel is the most expensive form of pellet fuel, and demands the highest price. Pelleting and Pelleting Machine Pelleting is the process used to compress hardwood residue into pellets, for fuel or BBQ pellets. Pelleting works on the principle of heat and pressure. The wood residue is milled and then placed in the pelleting machine. Here a roller compresses the wood through a die with a series of holes. Pellet Production Guide To improve peoples general knowledge of the pellet production process we have developed the wood pellet production guide. The guide covers the core fundamentals of the process, the equipment used, material required and process conditions. PelHeat Wood Pellet Production Guide At PelHeat we have many years of experience in pellet production, and we provide a pellet production consultation service.
