When Is A Small Scale

 Pellet Mill Appropriate?

When it comes to pellet production the majority of the attention is drawn to large scale pellet production plants. While at PelHeat we can assist with large scale pellet plants, we also like to support the small scale installations. Generally the small scale pellet mill is seen as a less efficient way to produce pellets. This is partly try as production costs are more per ton. However if you look at the complete energy loop of raw material and finished pellet transportation it is not that clear that large scale is always better. For example to make a large scale pellet production facility viable, a large amount of raw material is required. This therefore in many cases means transporting raw material to the pellet plant. Also to support the plant and the volume of pellets that need to be sold the pellets have to be shipped in some cases all over the world. What this means is that what ever efficiencies are saved with large scale production can also be lost with excessive transportation costs. Many different wood and biomass materials can be compressed into pellet form, please see examples in the video below.

At PelHeat we can help with pellet mills and pellet plants from any size for almost any material. Materials include all forms of wood and many different biomass materials. The pellet plants we support are highly automated and build to a quality unmatched by other products. The smallest pellet mill is the Mini Pellet Mill which can even be used in the home as it has a 2.2kW single phase motor.
