The Carpet Between The Pellet Mill Die And Rollers

Setting up the pellet mill is vital if you want to achieve the correct balance between pellet quality and pellet mill productivity requirements.

When it comes to the die you need to make sure its in a good condition and material can freely flow through it. If the die is second hand or is currently in use you need to check that the hole tapers have not been warn away. You should also run a light oily material through the die, such as wheat bran and vegetable oil. If the die is brand new or has not been in use for a period of  time you should condition it. A common way to do this is to put a small amount of sand in with the oil and bran, and run this through the pellet mill several times. This will clean off any build up of corrosion which may cause the die to become blocked during production, which is very frustrating. And down time costs money.

Now the die is in good condition, before you start to process your primary raw material you need to set your rollers correctly to the surface of the die template. On the internet the re-sellers of the cheap Chinese flat die pellet mills recommend securing the rollers to the surface of the die. To make things clear, in a professional pellet mill operation the rollers and die should never actually touch. There should be a small gap of 1mm, as this is appropriate in most cases. This can be achieved by turning on the pellet mill and slowly adjusting the rollers to the surface of the die. Please click below to see our videos.
