The Features A Laboratory Pellet Press Needs

Research and testing takes place for many different industries. The two main pellet industries are the fuel market and the animal feed market, both carry our extensive tests.

For the fuel market laboratory pellet presses are used to measure the density of various pelleted materials and their BTU heat values. For the feed market there needs to be tests on many different aspects of the feed produced. In both cases it costs too much money in lost production to shut down a whole plant to carry our these tests. Therefore with the right pellet press these tests can be carried out in the lab. However for the results of these tests to have any value the pellet mill must have the same design and features of the larger scale equipment. Please watch the video below of the Mini Pellet Mill. This is the smallest pellet press based on the ring die design used in large scale pellet production facilities. It has been designed so it can run from a single phase power supply, and therefore the machine can run from any plug socket within the laboratory with no problems. As well as been based on the ring die design, this pellet mill also includes a hopper with variable speed feed control. This enables the laboratory technician to control pellet density through feed rates and also the load on the pellet press motor. The pellet machine also features a conditioning chamber this can be used to prepare the material with other ingredients and potentially heat the material with trace heating. It also makes sure that the material is as consistent as possible before it is compressed between the roller and die. Consistency is very important, as only a consistent material will make good pellets. Through the link below you will see a video of a single phase mini pellet mill producing oak wood pellets. We also manufacture all our dies in house, so we can tailor the die to the material.
