What Makes A Good Laboratory Pellet Mill?Pellet testing is an area that we know a lot about here at PelHeat. Through our work over the years we have tested the combustion results of various biomass materials. We know that each material has different characteristics depending on material density, moisture content, particle size and natural lignin properties of the material. To be able to carry out comprehensive pellet testing in the laboratory you need a pellet mill where you can control as many variables as possible. Our Mini Pellet Mill is one of the highest quality small pellet mills on the market which was deliberately designed as a tool for small scale production of niche pellets and as the perfect tool for laboratory testing and research. The Mini Pellet Mill has many features not seen on other low quality pellet mills. First point is this press is based on the ring die pellet mill design of professional large scale pellet plants, not the inferior flat die design. We designed the unit to run from a single phase electrical supply, so it can be easily used within the laboratory. The pellet press features a hopper with a variable speed feed auger. The rate of material feed into the die and roller is very important, and the Mini Pellet Mill provides infinite control. The material then drops into the conditioner where various liquids or powers can be added. The conditioner mixes and meters material into the die. Each die is custom made for the customers requirements. The diameter of the die holes, the taper on the holes and depth of the holes can all be changed depending on the type of material that will be processed in the Mini Pellet Mill. However in some cases we do advise on a small amount of modified corn starch. |
