Wood Pellet PlantsFor FuelsWhen many people talk about wood pellets, they mainly seem to focus on its promotion as a 'green fuel' to fight global climate change. Though this is partly the reason to support the use of biomass and wood pellets, one of the main reasons is energy security and simply making better use of the resources we have. We are almost totally dependant on oil and gas for power, and every day hundreds of tons of wood waste and biomass in general are sent to landfills. Wood pellets and biomass cannot meet all our demands for heat and power, however they can play a significant part when used responsibly. There are cases as with all industries where there are unethical practices that need to be removed. Under no circumstances should a healthy tree be cut down purely for biomass and wood pellets. There are exceptions to this with purpose grown woods for fuel such as willow. Using trees which take many decades to grow is not a sustainable way to support the biomass industry. There are many fast growing energy crops which can be used for fuel pellets. Please watch the video below for examples. Wood pellet plants need to operate responsibly, and that also means cutting down on raw material and finished product transportation where possible. This means a pellet plant should have a good source of raw material near the plant and a large enough customer base near to the plant. This therefore means that large scale pellet plants are not always the best option. And small local scale pellet plants are more suitable in many cases. These generate local jobs and remove local waste streams. We offer highly automated wood pellet plants to produce fuel pellets, animal feed and other uses. We design and manufacturer these pellet plants here in the UK to the highest standards. Please click the link below. |
