Are Wood Pellets And Biomass Pellets That Different?Currently you may only be familiar with wood pellets as a form of home heating fuel, however there is a very wide range of materials that can be compressed into fuel pellets, biomass. Generally any organic matter that can be used to produce energy is regarded as biomass. Biomass includes wood, however it also includes the waste from growing food crops and other purpose grown energy crops. We need to make better use of the resources we have, and focusing purely on wood can lead to issues of deforestation been blamed on biomass fuels. Trees are one of the slowest growing biomass materials, therefore while the waste from tree's can and should be used to produce pellets, trees in general should not be cut down for fuel pellet production. There are exceptions such as willow which is a very fast growing tree which can be harvested every 3 years. To see examples of the type of biomass materials that can be made into wood pellets and biomass fuel pellets, please click the link to see a series of videos. The production of pellets is still a growing industry as demand for pellet fuels grows. Pellets provide a fuel which burns efficiently and can be transported cost effectively. We specialise in pellet production solutions on a very small scale up to very large scale applications. The main piece of equipment required is know as the pellet mill, but also as a pellet press or pellet machine. We offer a very small machine know as the mini pellet mill which can be used for research or making pellets in the home. We also offer very large scale equipment such as the modular pellet plant which can produce hundreds of tons. If you click the link below you can see a selection of videos on our small pellet maker and our small pellet plants. You will also be able to enter your details to download our five free guides. |
