What Is The Future For Wood Pellets Fuels Grades?

Due to the rising cost of energy and fossil fuels there has been dramatic growth in the up take of renewable energy technologies like pellet fuels. The most popular of the pellet fuels are wood pellets, which are produced in the pellet mill.

Wood pellets were first used on mass in Sweden. Sweden has a large forestry industry and a lot of timber processing. There is of course a lot of waste sawdust, which is now used to produce fuel pellets for home and businesses to use in automated pellet stoves and boilers. However more than just wood pellets need to be utilized. Sweden has large forestry reserves and a small population, therefore a dependence on wood pellets is not an issue. However as a global solution more biomass pellets need to be used which can be made from the waste of food crops and from purpose grown energy crops. Energy crops have a very short growing cycle compared to wood, and can produce fuel much more quickly. Hemp for example has only a 3 month growing cycle, and can produce fuel pellets which burn very similar to standard grade wood pellets. To see examples of the range of fuel pellets that can be used, please watch the videos through the link below. At PelHeat we specialise in the process and the equipment used to produce pellet fuels. Not just from wood but from all biomass materials. We have produced a beginners guide to making pellets, which you can download by clicking the link below. We only support the use of quality pellet mills and pellet plants from the experience of using poor quality equipment. Cheap pellet mills have a shorter life and require more labour to operate. The smallest unit we offer is the mini pellet mill, this machine can even operate from a single phase electrical supply. While this unit can technically be used to produce pellets from home its for testing needs.
