When it comes to making wood pellets there are lots of options out therefore for producing pellets on a small or large scale. If you type in wood pellet mill into Google, lots of websites will come up selling pellet mills. However, what many people are not aware of is that most of these pellet mills are not designed to process wood but animal feed. Wood pellets are a relatively new market, and pellet mills we originally designed to produce animal feed pellets. These same pellet mills are now been sold to produce wood pellets, however the reality is that making wood pellets is very different from producing animal feed pellets from soft materials like grasses and straws. Wood contains a lot of fibre which is very densely packed, hence why wood is so strong compared to grass. When wood is used in animal feed pellet mill is normal causes the mill to stall due to the fact it simply does not have the power to process the dense wood fibre. A wood pellet mill typically need to be geared down to be able to cope with wood. There are many other materials besides wood that can also be compressed into fuel pellet.
